Paradise: Part 2

Monty Don begins his quest in Spain where he discovers the basic building blocks for paradise gardens; in Morocco, he sees a variety, including an enormous, royal-walled meadow, and he uncovers the mystery behind their creation in the Iranian desert.

Paradise: Part 1

Monty Don returns to Japan in autumn and explores how one location protects its garden from the coming winter; he visits rooftop gardens, takes lessons in bonsai and moss balls and learns how the Japanese weave nature into their urban jungles.

Japan: Autumn

Monty Don travels to Japan in spring to trace the history of Japanese gardens, including the world-famous flowering Cherry Blossom Trees at Kenroku-en in Kanazawa; he learns the secrets of creating a Zen landscape.

Japan: Spring

Monty Don visits gardens distinctive to the climates of the desert heat of the American West, including the Palo Christi Garden in Scottsdale, Ariz.; he then travels to Seattle to tour the Chihuly Garden and Glass under the city's cloudy haze.

America: The West

Monty Don explores Colonial-era, English-style gardens at Middleton Place in Charleston, S.C., as well as the historic Monticello in Charlottesville, Va.

America: The South

Monty Don begins his journey in a Missouri prairie before visiting the Lurie Garden in Chicago; he explores an enthusiastic community garden in Brooklyn; he explores the Chanticleer Garden in Philadelphia, one of America's most famous gardens.
