Agatha McGee (Angela Lansbury) has devoted her life to teaching at a Catholic elementary school. While her dedication to education has left her little time to develop a fulfilling personal life, she has maintained one close relationship; for some time, Agatha has exchanged letters with a man living in Ireland. Lately, Agatha hasn't been seeing eye to eye with her school's administrator, so she finally decides to take off on the life-changing journey she's been dreaming of -- to Ireland.
