Learn how to get and sign in to a Netflix subscription through DIRECTV plus additional support.

Netflix is a streaming subscription available through DIRECTV, offering movies, TV shows, live events, and games, including exclusive rights to select NFL games. Not available to customers who stream DIRECTV with a Signature Package that pay by Amazon, or Roku (is available to customers with a Genre Pack).

DIRECTV offers the following Netflix plan options:

  • Netflix Standard with ads*
  • Netflix Standard no ads*
  • Netflix Premium no ads with 4K**

*Available only to streaming customers (no Satellite) at this time.

**4K TV and compatible device required to stream 4K content, when available.

Order Netflix through DIRECTV

  • Sign-in to your account and go to My TV Package

  • Locate Netflix, select Add, and follow the prompts.
  • After adding Netflix to your account, you'll have to complete activation steps before accessing content.
  • The monthly charge auto-renews through DIRECTV at the current monthly rate, and you can cancel anytime.
  • Netflix requires a high-speed internet connected device to stream content.
If you already have Netflix subscription, that's ok!
  • You can link your existing Netflix subscription using the same email address without the need to cancel it first.
  • Just follow the steps in the activation email to link your account.
  • Once complete you'll no longer be billed by Netflix.
  • Heads up: if the Netflix subscription was paid through Apple and you've linked to DIRECTV, you'll want to cancel your subscription through Apple to avoid double charges.  

Activate your Netflix subscription

  • You can pick the way that works best for you.
  • Activate immediately by locating Netflix on the My TV Package page, click Activate and follow the instructions.
  • You'll also receive an activation email with a link that will guide you to activate your Netflix subscription by following simple instructions.  
  • The email you use to establish Netflix credentials does not have to match your DIRECTV User ID and password.
  • After activation, you can download the Netflix app on your TV or mobile device, sign-in with your Netflix credentials and start watching.

Sign in and watch Netflix

  • Download the Netflix app through your DIRECTV TV interface (pre-loaded on Gemini) or another compatible device.
  • Device set-up and compatibility information: Netflix Supported Devices
  • Sign-in using the credentials you created during the activation step with Netflix.
  • You can also watch on Netflix.com or by clicking Watch Now on the Netflix card under My TV Package within your DIRECTV account.
Can't Remember your Netflix sign-in information?
  • Sign-in to your account and go to My TV Package
  • Locate Netflix and select Account Management > Go to Netflix to be redirected to a Netflix sign-in page where the email address is pre-populated.
  • You can also update your email address here if needed.

Remove Netflix from your DIRECTV account

  • Sign-in to your Account Overview and go to My TV Package
  • Locate Netflix, Remove and follow the prompts
  • Since you pay in advance, you’ll be able to watch Netflix through the end of your bill cycle.

Note: 

  • If you cancel DIRECTV service, your Netflix subscription will be cancelled at the end of the prepaid period.
  • If you pause DIRECTV service, your Netflix subscription will be temporarily paused at the same time. Once pause is over, your Netflix subscription restarts and charges resume. You’ll also receive an email from DIRECTV with a link to reactivate access to Netflix.
  • If DIRECTV service is suspended due to payment failure your Netflix subscription is temporarily suspended. Once your payment failure is resolved, your Netflix subscription restarts and charges resume.

Troubleshooting - Viewing Issues

  • Make sure your device is connected to the internet.
  • Internet download speed can affect your viewing experience. We suggest these internet download speeds: 8Mbps per stream in-home, or 2.5 to 7.5 Mbps mobile on-the-go. Test Your Internet Speed 
  • Check if your device has the latest operating version.
  • Check if the Netflix app needs an update.
  • If other apps or channels are working on your device, the issue may be isolated to the Netflix app. Refer to Netflix Help Center for additional information.

Having trouble linking an existing Netflix account DIRECTV

  • If you know the email address you used to sign up for Netflix, visit netflix.com/LoginHelp to reset your password.
  • If you don’t know the email address, you used to sign up for Netflix check to see if you are signed into Netflix on another where you can view the account information.
  • If you need additional support visit help.netflix.com for assistance and contact options.
