DIRECTV App for VIZIO - Troubleshooting & Tips

The DIRECTV App is officially supported on 2017 VIZIO Smart TVs and newer models.  VIZIO Smart TVs do not have a minimum Operating System requirement.

Ready to Watch? Make sure you have:

  • Compatible device connected to the internet.
  • Registered your VIZIO Smart TV account, for detailed info, check VIZIO set up (have your model number accessible)
  • DIRECTV account
  • DIRECTV App downloaded

How to download the DIRECTV App with your VIZIO remote control:

  • Option 1:
    • From the home screen, open the left Navigation menu and scroll to Apps.
    • From there, search A-Z or through categories to locate the DIRECTV App.
  • Option 2: Access VIZIO search from the icon at the top of the navigation User Interface menu.  
  • Option 3: Find the DIRECTV App on VIZIO (navigate to the Apps catalog page) and find DIRECTV in the Movies+TV category.

If you are having trouble:

  • Make sure your device is connected to the internet.
    • The user manual is always the best resource for device specific guidance, but in general for most devices a user would go to Settings > All Settings > Network to confirm their TV is connected to the internet.
  • Internet download speed can affect your viewing experience. We suggest these internet download speeds: 8Mbps per stream in-home, or 2.5 to 7.5Mbps mobile on-the-go. Test your internet speeds
  • Check if your device has the latest operating system.
  • Check if the DIRECTV App needs an update.

If all else fails and trouble is isolated to the DIRECTV App you can uninstall/reinstall the app by removing it from your device and reinstalling it.
