DIRECTV App for Samsung - Troubleshooting & Tips

Learn how to get and sign in to DIRECTV App with your Samsung TV and troubleshooting support.

Article

The DIRECTV App is officially supported on the Samsung TV's 2018+ (full model list) with software version 3.0 or higher.

Note: 2017 Samsung TV models can continue to use the app however the device will not receive updates.

Ready to Watch? Make sure you have:

  • Compatible device connected to the internet
  • DIRECTV account
  • DIRECTV App Downloaded

How to download and sign in to the DIRECTV App:

  • Press Home to open the Samsung Smart Hub
  • Enter DIRECTV in the Search box.
  • Choose DIRECTV, then Install.
  • Select the app to open it.
  • Once installation is complete, you can access the DIRECTV App from your home screen.
  • Sign in to the DIRECTV App with your user ID and password.

If you are having trouble:

  • Make sure your TV is connected to your home network.
    • On your TV, select Settings, and the Network.
    • Choose Network Status. You’ll see images of your TV, router and internet as they connect in that order.  Look for 3 dots between the images to show you’re connected.
    • If you see an X, you have lost your connection.
  • Internet download speed can affect your viewing experience. We suggest these internet download speeds: 8Mbps per stream in-home, or 2.5 to 7.5Mbps mobile on-the-go. Test your internet speeds.
  • Check if you have the latest versions of the operating system of your device and the DIRECTV App.
  • If you get an “insufficient storage space” message, make sure at least 100MB is available on your TV for updates. Go to Apps > Settings and delete unused apps.

Note: You may be prompted to sign in to the Samsung App Store with your Samsung user ID and password before updating or re-installing the app.
