Use closed captions on your Gemini device, the DIRECTV App, or online and get help if you have any issues.
Tip: Use voice commands on your Gemini remote to turn captioning on or off. Just press the MIC button and say, “Turn on captioning” or “Turn off captioning.”
Heads up: Using Chromecast? If you're casting content from a mobile device with closed captioning enabled, toggle the mobile device screen to see captions on the TV screen.
Closed caption issues can originate from several different programming sources.
DIRECTV STREAM passes information received from the original program provider through to our customers.
The most common closed caption errors originate from programming sources and program guide information vendors. For example, a local station may experience technical problems in the generation of captions especially during live programming events, such as local news, sporting events, etc. If programming received from the national networks includes captioning errors, local affiliated stations will pass those errors along as part of the broadcast feed they deliver to DIRECTV STREAM.
In some cases, the TV device or receiver may cause good closed caption info to be missing or garbled. In these cases, it’s recommended to restart the device or to verify that the local settings are correct.
