Listen to a program in a different language

Your DIRECTV service includes secondary audio programming (SAP). With SAP, you can hear English-language programs in Spanish or another language.

Select another language

To change the audio language on a channel:
  1. Press MENU on your remote.
  2. Choose your receiver type. If you have:
    • An HD receiver or HD DVR: Select Settings, then Audio.
    • A standard receiver or DVR: Select Parental, then Fav's & setup, then System setup, and finally Audio.
  3. Select Language, then choose the language you want.
  4. Press EXIT.

Find secondary audio programming (SAP) channels

You can get SAP with these premium channels:
  • HBO: HBO East, HBO 2 East, HBO Signature, HBO West HD, HBO West, HBO 2 West, HBO Family East, HBO Family West
  • Cinemax: Cinemax East, Cinemax West, More MAX
  • Starz: Starz East, Starz West, Starz Edge, Starz in Black,
  • Encore: Encore East. Encore West, Encore WAM
  • Showtime: Showtime East, Showtime West, SHO 2, Showtime Showcase, Showtime Extreme
