DIRECTV device and DIRECTV app streaming limits
Whether you're a Satellite or streaming customer find out how many concurrent streams and devices you can access with your service.
Streaming limits for Satellite customers
- You have a total of 5 concurrent streams to use while streaming on the DIRECTV app with a compatible device to your in-home network or on the go.
Streaming limits internet connected customers without a Satellite dish
- Most customers can enjoy unlimited concurrent streaming with DIRECTV on all of your compatible devices while connected to your in-home network.
- On the go and off your home network? You'll have access to up to 3 concurrent streams.
- Keep in mind only 2 streaming devices connected to a TV can be accessed simultaneously out of home, for example, one Gemini you're traveling with, plus one Firestick, which will use 2 of your 3 concurrent off home network streams.
Please note none of the above streaming limits apply to 3rd party apps such as Netflix, HBO Max etc. Questions about their streaming limits should be directed to the 3rd party app programmer.
Connecting to your home network
- Setting up your home network is easy; your home network is designated the first time you sign-in to stream DIRECTV.
- Not sure if you're connected to your home network or need to make a change? Set and manage your DIRECTV streaming home network.
- Good to know: If you move or change your internet service provider, you can update your home network up to 4 times in a 12-month period.
Network exclusions
Some networks only allow you to have 3 streams at the same time. This includes watching while connected to your home network or on the go. These include:
- Some Regional Sports Networks
- Fox and Fox affiliates including Big Ten Network, Fox News, Fox Business, FS1, FS2, and Fox Deportes.
- NHL Network
- PBS locals
- Showtime
- STARZ®
Troubleshooting
- If you exceed the maximum number of concurrent streams, you'll see an error message that says you have too many devices watching DIRECTV at the same time: Fix DIRECTV streaming limit errors.
- If you're at home and getting the too many streams message your device may not be set up as connected to your home network. Set and manage your DIRECTV streaming home network.
