Some of the most meaningful moments in a community happen around a shared screen. A big game, a season finale, a live event — these are moments people already gather for. For nonprofits, they can also become powerful opportunities to bring people together.
DIRECTV FOR BUSINESS® has seen firsthand how a well-planned watch party can do more than entertain. It can create connection, comfort and a sense of normalcy in spaces where that matters most.
That’s why DIRECTV FOR BUSINESS NONPROFIT created the Watch Party Toolkit, a free resource designed to help nonprofits plan, host and follow up on watch parties with confidence. It covers everything from what to watch and how to promote the event to creating a welcoming, memorable experience for everyone in the room.
The toolkit has also been put into practice through DIRECTV FOR BUSINESS NONPROFIT’s ongoing partnership with Ronald McDonald House. Recently, DIRECTV employees volunteered at the Atlanta chapter to host watch parties for families staying at the House. They prepared and served food, handed out giveaways and stayed to cheer alongside the families they came to support.
“By providing opportunities for families to come together for viewing parties in our common spaces, we are helping facilitate those strong connections that oftentimes last for many, many years,” said Justin Littlefield, Senior Director of Operations at Ronald McDonald House Atlanta.
That sentiment is at the heart of the partnership. Watch parties, at their best, aren’t about what’s on the screen — they’re about who’s in the room.
The video below captures that spirit, highlighting the employees who show up, the families who gather and the connections a shared moment of entertainment can create.
