Add the DIRECTV app to Apple TV

Make sure you have:

• Apple TV^® digital media extender (4th generation) with power cord
  
• Apple TV remote
  
• Wired or Wi-Fi^® internet connection
  
• DIRECTV STREAM account
• Ethernet cable (for wired connections)
  
• HDMI cable
  
• HDTV or home theater with HDMI port
  
• iOS device (optional for automated setup)
  

Get detailed info from Apple support about how to set up your Apple TV.

First, make sure your Apple TV is running tvOS 10 or higher. Then:

1. Go to the App Store.
2. Search for and choose DIRECTV.

Heads up: you will see the app listed as “DIRECTV STREAM”, but don’t worry, that’s the correct app for your service.

• Select Get for free. If prompted, enter your  Apple ID password.

Important: When you set up your DIRECTV STREAM device at home, that location becomes the residential, non-mobile internet network associated with your device. This is called your home Wi-Fi network.  Accessing the DIRECTV app on your Apple TV will also be limited to your Home Wi-Fi network. You can change your home Wi-Fi network up to 4 times within a 12-month period by relocating your DIRECTV STREAM device.

Apple TV automatically updates DIRECTV app when new versions are available. If you disabled automatic updates:

1. Go to the App Store.
   
2. Find DIRECTV to check for available updates.
