Shipping your return equipment

When you cancel your service, replace equipment, or remove equipment from your account, you’ll need to return your leased equipment in good condition to avoid a non-return fee or damaged equipment fee. Owned equipment can be kept.

Each return is different, but here are some more details on what you might need to return and what you can keep.

What do I need to return?

Leased receivers, remote controls, and power cords – you can tell if your receiver is leased by checking your bill for any monthly lease charges (e.g. “Device lease fee”, “TV access fee”).

What can I keep?

Owned receivers, satellite dishes and accessories like mount and pole.

How do I return my equipment?

In some cases, we’ll send you a return kit in the mail. If you received a return kit, simply pack up the equipment you're sending back to us, attach the prepaid shipping label to the return kit, and give the kit to your mail carrier or drop it off at a post office.

If you have leased equipment but didn’t receive a return kit, bring your unboxed equipment and account number to any FedEx Office Print and Ship Center location. You'll get a receipt that confirms your return. It’s fast, easy, and no packing is necessary.

How do I swap equipment?

Either drop off the unboxed equipment that is being returned at a FedEx Office Print and Ship Center or use the materials that come in the new equipment’s box to pack up your equipment - then drop it off at a post office.

You lease your DIRECTV equipment

Shipping your return equipment

When you cancel your service, order an equipment replacement under warranty, or remove equipment from your account, you’ll need to return your leased equipment in good condition to avoid a non-return fee or damaged equipment fee.

Heads up! Refer to the DIRECTV Equipment Lease Agreement for full details on non-return and damaged equipment fees.

Where to return your equipment?

There should have been a return shipping label in the equipment’s original packaging. If you still have that, use it to package up your equipment and drop it off at a post office. If not, go to Contact us to talk with an agent who can provide you a FedEx return label. Pack your equipment in a box, place the FedEx return label on the package, and take it to a FedEx Office Print and Ship Center.

What if it's a warranty replacement?

Return the equipment within 15 days, simply use the return shipping label that came in the device replacement packaging. No need to return the remote or power cord or HDMI cables.

Do you lease or own?
You can tell if your receiver is leased by checking your charges online for any monthly lease charges (e.g. "Device lease fee", "TV access fee"). If you don't see this fee, then you own your equipment.
