1. HD-ready Television
Make sure your TV or the one you're about to purchase is "HD-ready." This means that it's capable of displaying at least 720 progressive lines of resolution (720p). For the best HD experience, consider a TV that's capable of 1080 progressive lines resolution (1080p). -
2. HD Receiver
Choose either the DIRECTV® HD receiver or our most advanced receiver, the DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR. With the DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR, you can experience blockbuster DIRECTV on DEMAND movies in 1080p, the same HD format as Blu-ray. Just connect the receiver to your 1080p-capable TV with an HDMI cable. -
3. HD Service
Add HD service to the TV package of your choice when placing your DIRECTV order. If you're already a customer and don't have HD, you can upgrade online by signing in to My Account and going to Add Service.
