Cookies, caches, and DIRECTV STREAM

A cookie is a small file that saves your preferences when you visit websites - the server hosting the site sends a cookie to your browser. A cache is similar: it stores web data on your browser so websites load faster the next time you go to them. Sometimes, these saved cookies and caches can cause streaming video issues.

Most browsers accept cookies by default. You can usually find the option to turn cookies on or off under the Preferences or Internet Options menu.

Cookies and cache data often make your surfing and streaming experience a little easier. However, they can also bog things down. Clearing browsing data, like cookies and caches, is a common way to freshen up your browser. Here’s how:

1. Launch your web browser.
2. Go to the History menu, or select Ctrl+Shift+Del if using a PC.
3. Select the items you'd like to clear from the browsing history.
4. Select the Delete or Clear button.
5. Close your browser and reopen it.

DIRECTV STREAM won’t work if you block all cookies. You’ll see a blank screen if you try to sign in or sign up. Also, when you turn off cookies, you have to reenter your ID and password to move between the watch experience and account management.
