Genie 2 DVR features & error fixes

DIRECTV’s Genie 2 offers a sophisticated integration and enhanced customer experience. The Genie 2 does not need a connection or output to a TV. It services Genie clients like Genie Mini and Wireless Genie Mini receivers. Below is information on Genie 2 features and how to fix common errors.

The Genie 2 is easy to use and offers customer more storage and enhances the DVR function. Genie 2 provides DIRECTV customers with:
  • Built-in capability to connect to an Internet Wi-Fi access point.
  • Allows up to 7 simultaneous video streams, 2 of which can be 4K streams.
  • DVR storage capacity of 2TB.

Troubleshooting on-screen error messages

The Genie 2 must remain in a vertical position at all times. If you receive an error message here are tips for fixing the problem.

Help! Your Genie 2 has fallen and can’t get up!
If the Genie 2 is tilting or not ventilating, the error Help! Your Genie 2 has fallen and can’t get up! appears on the screen. To fix the error:
  1. Place the Genie 2 in its upright position.
  2. Select Ok with your remote control to clear the on-screen error.

Thermal Warming
The Thermal Warning error appears on the screen if your Genie 2 is overheating. Here is what you can do to fix and prevent this error:
  1. Check to make sure there is no airflow blockage.
  2. Verify that the device remains in an upright position.
  3. Select Ok on your remote control to restart the Genie 2.
