Without being heavy handed, the movie shows the corrupting influence of business on what otherwise might be a "pure" practice. It also shows how greed can lead to acts of violence, such as poisoning dogs to slow down the "competition."
A dog is poisoned; a man reports the crime to a police officer, describing the dog's reaction (the man weeps at one point). A shot of the (possible) animal among the tall grass as the man stands nearby. Dialogue about the methods people use to poison the dogs. Minor injury on a man's face (he walked into a tree). A threat. An old married couple bickers frequently.
A man tells a story about receiving 50 marriage proposals.
Seen in subtitles, two uses of "f--k," two uses of "pissed off," and uses of "goddamn," "ass," and "mother of God."
Lots of wine with various meals. Wine-tasting. Some cigarette smoking.
