The Washington Wizards were established in 1961 and are part of the Southeast Division. Originally the Chicago Packers, the team has had several name changes over the years. After moving to Landover, Maryland, in 1973, they became the Capital Bullets. In 1974, they changed their name to the Washington Bullets, which stood until 1995 when owner Abe Pollin renamed the team the Wizards. He cited the violent overtones of the word bullet as the reason. They play their home games at Capital One Arena, located in Washington, DC. Keep up with the latest Washington Wizards info, including standings, stats, news, and much more.
