How will the Philadelphia Flyers make out in the 2023-2024 NHL season? After multiple seasons of not being able to qualify for the NHL postseason, fans are hoping the team can come together and improve their performance this year. Check out the Philadelphia Flyers 2023-2024 schedule, roster and more below. Plus, find out how to watch Flyers games live this season with DIRECTV.
PHILADELPHIA FLYERS HISTORY
The Philadelphia Flyers were founded in 1967 and are now part of the Metropolitan Division. In 1966, team co-owner Bill Putnam held a contest to name the Philadelphia expansion team. “Quakers” and “Ramblers” – names of previous Philadelphia hockey teams – were two of the main contenders. The team ended up with the Philadelphia Flyers, though, which has stuck to this day.
The Flyers have had their fair share of ups and downs over the years since they were founded. In the 70’s, for example, the team was known as the “Broad Street Bullies” because of their excellent performance and ability to win. They won the Stanley Cup in 1974 and 1975, becoming the first post- Original Six team to win a cup.
And while the team has struggled for the last five or so seasons, overall, they have had a strong performance in the NHL and have the most conference finals appearances of any the NHL expansion teams. The last time the team won a Stanley Cup was in ’75, and their last Cup appearance was in 2010.
The Flyers play their home games at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS 2023-2024 ROSTER
The Flyers are hoping to hit the ice running this year, and with a few players recovered from injuries, that might just be possible. Center Sean Couturier will be back this year after two seasons of injuries, and fans are excited to see how he can perform with the rest of the team. With him, Konecny and Atkinson back on the ice full-time, perhaps the team will be able to come together to get some victories.
