The New Jersey Devils were founded in 1974 and are part of the Metropolitan Division. They were originally the Kansas City Scouts before moving to Denver and becoming the Colorado Rockies in 1976. The franchise moved to New Jersey in 1982 and became the Devils. They’re named for the Jersey Devil, a mythological creature that is said to have inhabited the Pine Barrens of South Jersey. The Devils play their home games at Prudential Center in the central business district of Newark, New Jersey.
