One of the perks of today’s culture is how much we hear about leveling up our lives and working towards our highest potential. Setting high expectations also comes with sacrifices and many times having to deal with our old friend, failure. However, it’s how we deal with failure that sets apart the winners from the losers. This is exactly what Ika Wong did when she entered the Big Brother Canada house for the second time around and played to her highest potential.
Ika’s short lived first stay in the Big Brother Canada house on season two can be attributed to her lack of game plan which became clear to both her and her housemates. Ika learned you can’t just post goals on a mood board – there needs to be a strategy to reach the top. After licking her wounds, closely following the next two seasons and focusing on her strengths, Ika was ready to try again. When asked why she entered BBH for the second time around she replied, “everyone deserves second chances, right?”

In season five of Big Brother Canada, Ika didn’t let her failure the first time around bring her down and came back stronger than ever. She owned and dominated the house the entire season. Oh boy do we love a good redemption story! Ika left the house being remembered as one of the best players of the season. Fans fell in love with Ika because not only is she relatable but she is also inspiring. Whether it’s not getting into the college of our dreams or being passed on the promotion at work, we have all experienced failure.
Not only did fans flock to Ika, so did fellow housemate, Demetres Giannitsos. The two fell in love while shooting season five. The pair continued to share their romance via popular YouTube channel, Dem & Ika, posting videos twice a week featuring them answering relationship questions and pulling pranks on each other. This past March, Demetres set up a romantic proposal where it all began – the BB Canada house. He said “We are truly soulmates and meant to be together…you are literally everything I’ve ever wanted, beautiful, smart, talented, you always have my back, and truly make me a better person.”
