WBO Lightweight champion Mikey Garcia (38-0, 30 KOs) and IBF Lightweight titleholder Robert Easter, Jr. (21-0, 14 KOs) stood face-to-face for the first time at their first official press conference. When not staring each other down, the boxers offered their thoughts in advance of their much-anticipated duel on July 28th on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING and DIRECTV and DIRECTV NOW. Garcia talked about unifying the lightweight belts and cementing his legacy with a victory over the undefeated Easter. Easter discussed studying film and developing his craft in his preparations for the fight. Then the fighters stood toe-to-toe, each with a championship belt draped over their shoulders. The height disparity is considerable. Easter also has an 8-inch reach advantage over Garcia. If styles make fights, so do sizes. Garcia will have to use all of his considerable skill to counter Easter’s height and reach advantages.
