DIRECTV TO LAUNCH LATINX CREATOR HOUSE – FAMILIA FUEGO

Continuing its legacy of promoting up-and-coming talent, DIRECTV is again changing the game to empower diverse creators to launch “Familia Fuego” a Latinx TikTok all-star house.

The Familia Fuego house, a first of its kind for Latinx comedy creators, launched on @FamliaFuego on TikTok. Familia Fuego was named by its five residents, Leo González (@leogonzall), Alexia del Valle (@lexdelvalle), Monica Villa (@monitoocrazy), Isabella Ferregur (@lil1zzyvert), and Jesus Zapien (@jesus_nalgas).

The Latinx creators and TikTok stars will use the house as a creative hub to continue to produce content for their respective audiences while collaborating with each other to create exclusive content for the @FamiliaFuego channel and DIRECTV.

The house, made possible through a collaboration between DIRECTV and global creator and influencer company, Whalar, is rooted in a mission to foster opportunities for social media’s most talented, diverse creators. The Latinx community comprises a significant part of American culture, driving the majority of population growth, yet still remains largely underrepresented in mainstream media. The TikTok house series aims to help nurture up-and-coming Latinx talent during and beyond their stay.

“Familia Fuego allows us to engage with audiences beyond the traditional media channels while also increasing representation for Latinx creators both in front of and behind the camera,” said Vince Torres, chief marketing officer, DIRECTV. “It also gives us the chance to highlight our focus on bringing the very best in entertainment, both Live and On-Demand, to all of our customers.”

The Latinx house extends DIRECTV’s lead in bringing diverse content to more audiences. This comes after DIRECTV worked with Whalar to launch ‘The Crib Around The Corner’, the first house for TikTok stars in Los Angeles specifically for Black influencers – which won the Adweek 2021 Award for best content house.

“We are honored to work with DIRECTV to welcome each of these talented forces, for their authenticity and commitment to embracing and sharing their uniqueness. We can’t wait to champion these creators and watch what’s to come for the Familia Fuego,” said Steven Wolfe Pereira, Board of Directors at Whalar.
