COLORADO AVALANCHE HISTORY

The Colorado Avalanche were originally founded as the Quebec Nordiques in 1972 and are part of the Central Division. The Nordiques moved to Denver and became the Colorado Avalanche in 1995, staying as a fixture in the Central Division.

During their first season in Denver, the Avalanche swept the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final. They’ve won two more Stanley Cups since in 2001 and 2022, despite historically performing well. The Avalanche play their home games at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.
