CAROLINA HURRICANES HISTORY
The Carolina Hurricanes were originally founded as the New England Whalers in 1972. After seven seasons in the World Hockey Association, the team joined the NHL and became the Hartford Whalers in 1979. Nearly 20 years later in 1997, they moved to North Carolina and rebranded as the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes won a Stanley Cup in 2006, when they defeated the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. Today, the Hurricanes play in the Metropolitan Division and host their home games at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.
After giving up the least number of goals in 2022 and the second fewest in 2023, this team is on the cusp of greatness once again. And with a solid group of talented players that have been playing and growing together over the last few season, this may just be their year.
