Is this the season the Buffalo Sabres rise above the rest and prove that they have what it takes to take home the Stanley Cup? After surprising NHL fans last year with the team’s strong performance, only time will tell if they can take it all the way. This post lays out the 2023-2024 Buffalo Sabres schedule, roster and more. Plus, find out where to watch the Sabres this season.
BUFFALO SABRES HISTORY
The Buffalo Sabres were founded in 1970 and are part of the Atlantic Division. When deciding on a team name, the owners of the Buffalo Sabres (Seymour and Northrup Knox, and Robert O. Swados) wanted something unique instead of the popular “Bisons” name.
After receiving more than 13,000 suggestions, the owners chose the Buffalo Sabres because a sabre is a weapon that’s strong on both offense and defense. And that is certainly true for this year’s roster. With promising talent on both defense and forward, the Sabres will look good on the ice this year. Not to mention, the young goalie, Devon Levi, is quickly becoming a star in the net, and may make his debut as starting goaltender this season.
And considering the Buffalo Sabres were one point away from making the playoffs in the 2022-2023 season, they could use someone like Levi in the net.
The Sabres play their home games at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. If you can’t make it to the rink, though, DIRECTV has got you covered.
