This year’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase has ended, and it featured many big reveals. All the games shown during the showcase will be released in the next 12 months, and many will be available on Game Pass day one. This was a first for Xbox because usually they just show games they currently have in development. These games range from console exclusives to Xbox original titles. Here are eight exciting updates from the 2022 XBOX and Bethesda Showcase.

You can watch the entire presentation above.

Redfall

The show started with a look at Arkane StudiosRedfall, which was announced during last year’s event and recently delayed. It was revealed to be a co-op shooter, where players fight vampires who have taken over a town. The game draws inspiration from Arkane’s previous games like Dishonored or 2021’s Deathloop regarding combat and stealth.

The game’s four characters each have unique abilities to take on enemies. These abilities include electricity, invisibility and some type of telekinetic powers. The game’s new release date was revealed to be 2023, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to see more of Redfall.

High on Life

High on Life was one of the most surprising announcements of the show. It’s a first-person shooter from the creator of Rick and Morty. Like Rick and Morty, the game takes place in space and features the signature voice of Justin Roiland. Within the game, there are several weird and strange characters you’ll run across, who are just as odd as the weapons you’ll carry. You can expect the game to release sometime in October.

Overwatch 2 Goes Free-to-Play

Like many popular multiplayer games, Overwatch 2 is now going free-to-play. In addition to this announcement, it was revealed that the game would launch on October 4 during early access and feature the Junker Queen, a brand-new character. She is the second new character added to the game, with the other being Sojourn.

As Dusk Falls

As Dusk Falls is a game with a motion-graphics art style. The story kicks off when a family on vacation is stranded at a motel, which is then robbed. The game’s story will be told through images that move, giving it a unique look compared to other games. It is a choice-based adventure game, reminiscent of games made by Telltale. It will be released on July 19.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Team Ninja, creators of Nioh, returned with a new game for Xbox titled Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. It is a fantasy action game set during China’s Three Kingdoms period and mixes history with the supernatural. During the game’s reveal, Xbox President Phil Spencer expressed the importance of having games from Japanese developers. The game will come out in early 2023.

Persona Xbox Ports Come to Game Pass

For years, there were rumors about the Persona series being ported to other platforms, but nothing ever came to fruition. Atlus will bring Persona 3, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal to Xbox. On October 21, Persona 5 Royal will arrive. The other two games will come later in 2023. The most important news about these ports is that they will be available on Game Pass upon release.

Kojima’s Xbox Partnership

Legendary game designer, Hideo Kojima, will be partnering with Xbox for a brand-new game. There wasn’t any concrete news on what the game is called, but it will likely be the recently rumored Overdose. This game is said to star Margaret Qualley, who was also featured in Death Stranding. It’s rumored she may even reprise her character from Death Stranding. Since the game was announced during this show, there’s a good chance it will be released in the next year.

Starfield

Bethesda closed out the show with a big reveal of Starfield. This demo gave a general overview of the game. In Starfield, you can travel to and explore over 1,000 planets. Along the way, you’ll encounter human and inhuman enemies, who can be defeated using weapons such as SMGs and shotguns. The demo shows a group of pirates in a base being defeated using these weapons.

Pirates are also one of the game’s many factions players who will be able to join during their playthrough. This is a part of Bethesda’s effort to give players as much freedom as possible. This effort extends to the game’s customization options as well. You’ll be able to choose their appearance, backstory and skills. Ship customization will also be an option, as ships can be crafted from materials collected during gameplay. These same ships can also be flown into space, where combat is also possible. Starfield is shaping up to be an ambitious title from Bethesda and Microsoft. It was delayed until 2023, so we’ll have to wait a bit longer to travel the galaxy.
