DIRECTV Installation

An independent contractor installs the equipment at your premises and shows you how to operate the system. Our independent contractors meet the highest performance standards and their expertise will meet all of your needs.

Satellite dish installation

To receive DIRECTV® programming, your business needs an installation location with a clear view of the southern sky, unblocked by trees or buildings. Most dishes are installed on a roof or balcony, but other arrangements can be made to accommodate your structure and preferences.

Standard professional installation

The standard professional commercial installation for private offices includes:
  • Mounting the DIRECTV® Multi-Satellite System outdoor unit (basic installation includes two dishes1) on your establishment's roof, using a Non-Penetrating Roof Mount (NPRM) with the associated rubber mount and ballast.
  • Grounding the DIRECTV Multi-Satellite outdoor unit in accordance with NEC Article 810-21.
  • Installing up to 150 feet of RG-6 cable and amplification.
  • Routing cable through an approved roof penetration and following an approved commercial cable run (wire chases, drop ceiling, vertical air shafts, etc.).
  • Connecting one DIRECTV receiver per TV on site. Limit 3.
  • Connecting each DIRECTV receiver to a phone jack, provided that the receivers are within 25 feet of phone jacks. (Currently required for phone number verification.)
  • Maximizing signal strength and activating the account for DIRECTV® programming.
  • Providing at least 30 minutes of customer education on the operation of the system.
  • If you request additional work that is not included in the standard professional commercial installation as outlined above, it is recommended that you negotiate this work directly with the independent contractor.

Standard professional installation exclusions

Examples of work that is not part of the standard professional commercial installation for a private office include:
  • Additional RG-6 cable over 150 feet.
  • Plenum cable of any length.
  • Phone jack wiring where existing service is more than 25 feet from a receiver.
  • Any enhancements to existing phone system.
  • Connections to stereo, VCRs and/or various audio components not located near the receiver.
  • Special moldings or other cosmetic hardware used to hide exposed cables.
  • Installation of multi-switch (not applicable for DVR installations), or additional receiver installations after the first 3 receivers.
  • Additional TVs that are split out on a channel 3/4 loop (convenience outlets).
